Estherville police officers arrested an Estherville woman on numerous charges on Wednesday.
According to a police press release, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Wednesday, Estherville police officers were dispatched to the local Hy Vee Store parking lot for the report of an intoxicated female that had been acting strange in front of the store. The complainants advised that the suspect had just left the area in a maroon Dodge van.
Responding officers observed the described vehicle as it was leaving the Hy Vee parking lot, crossing Central Avenue and entering the Fareway parking lot. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The suspect stopped the van, exited the vehicle and entered the grocery store after being told to stop by officers. The suspect failed to cooperate with officers inside the store and was placed under arrest. The suspect did resist arrest and in doing so scratched and kicked a police officer and had to be physically removed from the store.
The suspect was identified as Marcy Dee Ross, 37, of Estherville. Ross was transported and booked into the Emmet County Jail. She was charged with O.W.I., first offense, serious assault on a peace officer, aggravated assault on a peace officer, and interference with official acts causing injury. Ross made an initial appearance in court and remains in the Emmet County Jail with a bond of $21,450 cash or surety.
