ELC girls earn several honors for great season

With Estherville Lincoln Central's successful season culminating in the Class 3A State Runner-up, the individual accolades follow.

ELC coach Tony Klein has compiled the awards for each of the team's six seniors, who led the team to a 23-4 record.

Allie Sievert received first team all-Lakes Conference (unanimous), Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 3A West all-district team and IGCA Class 3A first team all-state; Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Class 3A Region 3 all-region and first team all-state, Iowa Newspaper Association Class 3A second team all-state; Des Moines Register first team all-state and 3A state all-tournament team.

Allie scored 382 points this season, an average of 14.1 points per game, while shooting 49 percent (143-of-292) from the field. She also shot 80.5 percent (95-of-118) from the free throw line. She was second on the team in rebounds with 198 and had 33 assists, 34 blocked shots and 30 steals.

Emily Kirchner received first team all-Lakes Conference (unanimous), Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 3A West all-district team, IGCA Academic All-State and IGCA Class 3A first team all-state; Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Class 3A Region 3 all-region and second team all-state, Iowa Newspaper Association Class 3A first team all-state; Des Moines Register first team all-state and Class 3A state all-tournament team.

Kirchner finished the season with 366 points, an average of 13.6 points per game, while shooting 47.1 percent (115-of-244) from the field. She also shot 72 percent (136-of-189) from the free throw line. Kirchner had 199 rebounds, 70 steals, 51 assists and four blocked shots.

Sara Heywood received first team all-Lakes Conference IGCA Class 3 third team all-state and IBCA Class 3A Region 3 all-region. Heywood scored 225 points, an average of 8.7 point per game, while shooting 52.4 percent (88-of-168) from the field including 36.4 percent (20-of55) from 3-point range. She also shot 70.7 percent (29-of-41) from the free throw line. She finished the season with 68 assists, 66 steals, 49 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Casey Sievert received second team all-Lakes Conference honors, and IGCA Academic all-state. Casey scored 250 points this season, an average of 9.3 points per game, while shooting 42.4 percent (89-of-210) from the field including 35.4 percent (35-of-99) from 3-point range. She shot 67.3 percent (37-of-55) from the free throw line. She also pulled down 75 rebounds and had 52 assists, 33 steals and 28 blocked shots.

Macy Dahl received second team all-Lakes Conference honors. She finished the season with 84 points, an average of 3.1 points per game, while shooting 31 percent (27-of-87) from the field including 35.3 percent (18-of51) from 3-point range. She shot 48 percent (12-of-25) from the free throw line. She had 70 rebounds, 59 steals, 51 assists and 10 blocked shots.

All of the five starters listed above earned academic all-conference honors in the Lakes Conference.

Maggie McCauley received honorable mention all-Lakes Conference. She finished with 152 points this season, an average of 5.6 points per game) while shooting 44 percent (55-of-125) from the field including 39.7 percent (31-of-78) from 3-point range. She shot 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the free throw line.
