GRAETTINGER?- Funeral services for Madelyn Deloris Andre, 82, of Graettinger will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 12 at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger with the Rev. Mike Shaffer officiating. Inurnment will be at Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11 from 4-7 p.m. at the church in Graettinger.
Madelyn Deloris Andre, daughter of Louis and Cleo (Anderson) Lammers, was born May 23, 1930, in rural Graettinger. She received her education in Graettinger, graduating in 1949.
On Sept. 15, 1952 Madelyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Andre at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. They were the first couple to be married in the church after it was built. Kenneth was stationed in Virginia at this time so he and Madelyn made their home there, until Kenneth was discharged. In 1955 they began farming near Graettinger.

Madelyn was employed at the Graettinger Community School and later at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and church circle in Graettinger. She was also a member of the Christiansen-Bonnicksen American Legion Auxiliary.
Madelyn passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister-in-law, Ruth Lammers; brothers-in-law, Wally Claypool and Melvin Andre; father-in-law and mother-in-law.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Keith) Christensen of Ringsted, Joy Andre (William Engelkes) of Jackson, Minn., and Karl (Shelly) Andre of Wellman, Iowa; grandchildren; great grandchildren; her brother, Milo Lammers of Graettinger; sisters, Darlene (Bill) Croft of Estherville, Eunice (Emil) Oeltjenbruns of Mountain Lake, Minn., Sharon Claypool of Wallingford, and Maxine (Glen) Johnson of Holstein; several nieces and nephews.
