The Estherville Lincoln Central boys' tennis team lost to Cherokee 6-3 on Monday.
The Midgets picked up one win and singles, but two in doubles.
"We didn't play as well in singles as I would have liked, but I was happy with how the doubles responded," said ELC coach Tony Klein. "Brad (Olsen) and Thomas (Bortvit) did a really nice job. They were down 9-8 and won three consecutive games to win the match.
"Also, Levi (Jensen) and John (Reisner) played great in their doubles which was good because they worked really hard on it in practice on Friday," he said.
Bortvit had the only win in singles as he defeated Alexx Mauer 10-7 at the No. 4 singles.
Olsen had a tight match at the No. 1 singles, but lost 10-8 to Brett Walker.
In other singles play, Reisner lost 10-4 to Alec Schultz, Jensen lost 10-4 to Connor Ogren, Brandon Sharar lost 10-2 to Nathan Dodd and Kyle Marks lost 10-0 to Nate Fowler.
In doubles, Olsen and Bortvit won 11-9 over Walker and Schultz and Reisner and Jensen won 10-4 over Ogren and Mauer. In the other match, Sharar and Marks lost 10-0 to Dodd and Fowler.
In junior varsity play, Koby Schubert lost 8-0 to Nick Bennigsdorf and Jose Rodriguez lost 8-3 to Drake Bechtel.
In doubles, Schubert and Rodriguez lost 8-1 to Lundy and Salazar.
