The Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Tennis Team looked to avenge an early season loss to Storm Lake, but lost too many close matches as the Midgets fell 5-4.
"We just need to get mentally stronger," said ELC coach Larry Kirchner.
ELC picked up three wins in singles play. Maddy Burns defeated Emmerly Mai 10-5, Samantha Rosinger won 10-8 over Cheyann Smith and Emily Jorgenson won 10-5 over Kallie Croker.
At the No. 1 singles, Bailey Hagen lost a close match to Lani Brown falling 11-9. At the No. 4 singles, Amber Schacherer lost by the same score to Nouk Keozuphone.
In the no. 5 singles, Mackenzie Wilson lost 10-3 to Kathy Lai.
In doubles, Rosinger and Jorgenson got the lone win as they defeated Lai and Croker 10-8.
At the No. 1 singles, Hagen and Burns lost 10-6 to Brown and Mai. At the No. 2 singles, Schacherer and Wilson led 8-5 before falling 11-9 to Smith and Keozuphone.
In junior varsity play, Kaylee Nissen lost 9-7, Taylor Nissen lost 8-4, Emily Origer lost 8-2, Macarena Cibran lost 8-2 and Laura Perez lost 8-3.
Kaylee and Taylor Nissen led 5-1 in a double match before their match was called.
ELC is at Spencer today before traveling to the Lakes Conference meet hosted by Spirit Lake-Okoboji on Saturday.
