ELC plays better, but Spirit Lake is too much

OKOBOJI - After some disappointing play the last two outings, the Estherville Lincoln Central boys' golf team went to work over the weekend and the results showed on Tuesday. While host Spirit Lake still won 154 to 163, the Midgets showed a dramatic improvement.

"I'm extremely pleased," said ELC coach Dave Van Roekel. "After the Storm Lake Invite, some worked all weekend. They're starting to understand the difference between hitting a good golf shot and shooting a good golf score."

Spirit Lake's Corey Potter led the field with a 33 to earn medalist honors.

However ELC's Tucker Milburn shot a 38 to earn runner-up honors. Jack Brashear finished with a 41 while Corey Reeves and Chris Seylar each shot 42s.

Non-counting scores were a 44 by Clay Tredway and a 45 by Hunter Gifford.

In junior varsity play, the two teams tied as each shot a 192.

Levi Quastad led ELC's JV with a 46 while Hunter King and Jake Bortvit each shot 47s and Alex Molacek shot a 52. Non-counting scores were a 54 from Chase Erickson and a 58 by Reese Vedder.

ELC is scheduled to travel to Hull Friday to play Western Christian and Emmetsburg.
