It's that time of year again when folks are out with their dogs, kids, strollers, bikes, skateboards - you name it.
Despite the recent weather, a lot of folks are getting excited about the Emmet County community walk planned for this Friday.
Walk locations and times include:
n Regional Wellness Center - 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
n Estherville Public Library - 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1 p.m.
n Estherville Lincoln Central High School track - noon.
n Avera Holy Family Hospital - 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m.
n Emmet County Nature Center - 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m.
n Armstrong High School - 3:05 p.m.
n Iowa Lakes Community College - noon.
If you haven't considered participating in the walk, now is the time to decide to do it.
A 30-minute walk is recommended. In the event of rain, an alternative location will be at the Regional Wellness Center from 10 a.m. to noon.
Walking is a great, low-impact way to start your spring fitness program. You wouldn't believe how quickly even a brief walking regimen of an hour a day for three or four days a week can actually change the physical appearance of a person's body.
Walking is also a good way to work up to more intensive exercise such as running. And there's very little if any expense - all that's needed is a comfortable pair of soft-soled shoes.
It's a great way to enjoy the outdoors, too, and also to enjoy some of the geat walking trails we have right here in Estherville, in our county parks and at Fort Defiance State Park.
So we'll see you Friday!
