Warriors finish second at Laurens

LAURENS - The North Union Boys Track Team finished second at the Laurens-Marathon Co-ed meet on Monday.

Pocahontas Area won the event with 137 points followed by the Warriors with 102, West Bend-Mallard with 92, Sioux Central with 79, Laurens-Marathon with 75, Newell-Fonda with 69 and Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire with three.

North Union had three top individual finishes.

Aric Runge won the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.76 seconds. Matt Adams won the 800-meter run in 2:12.10 and Marshall Klingenberg won the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 5 /12 inches.

Jacob Braddock placed third in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 1/4 inch.

Runge added a second-place finish in the high jump where he tied with two others with a leap of 5 feet 4 inches.

Brian Becker finished second in the 400-meter dash in 56.16 seconds and third in the 1600-meter run in 5:14.02. Also second was Dyson Umscheid in the discus with a throw of 120 feet, 8 inches.

Placing third was the 4x400-meter relay team of Jake Adams, Runge, Trenton Fothergill and Matt Adams in 3:45.589. The quartet of Becker, Runge, Joey Stauffer and Jake Adams took third in the 4x800-meter relay in 8:54.32. The 4x20-meter relay team of Braden Ortman, Klingenberg, Fothergill and Kevin Nemmers finished third in 1:39.76.

Also Kaleb Olson placed third in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 9 inches. The distance medley team of Stauffer, Fothergill, Becker and Jake Adams placed fourth in 3:59.41.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Jacob Braddock, Ortman, Klingenberg and Olson placed fifth in 48.95 seconds.

Chandler Meyer placed sixth in the 400-meter low hurdles in 1:10.82. Also sixth was the shuttle hurdle relay team of Lucas Hardman, Meyer, Cory Tigges and Wyatt Runksmeier in 1:17.71.

North Union travels to Emmetsburg Thursday for the Class 2A District Meet. Start time is 4 p.m.
