MASON CITY - The Iowa Lakes baseball team split with NIACC on Monday in a doubleheader.
Iowa Lakes fell in 5 innings in the first game by the score of 11-1 and came out on top in the second game by the score of 4-2.
The Lakers finished with six hits in the first game led by Leonardo Ramirez, who went 2-2. Steve Kandborg was 1-3 with an RBI.
Chaday Figueroa took the loss on the mound.
In the second game, Iowa Lakes and NIACC each had six hits, but the Trojans had three errors.
Jonathan Brinez picked up the win. In two innings, he gave up two hits and struck out one batter. Alcides Fuguet pitched three innings and gave up two runs on four hits with one strikeout. Juan Perez earned the save. He pitched two innings and struck out two batters.
At the plate, Kevin Arroyo was 2-3 with two RBIs. Elvin Nunez was 1-2 with an RBI. Oscar Galagarza was 1-3 with a run.
Iowa Lakes (16-22 overall, 6-16 in the conference) hosted NIACC on Tuesday.
