She proceeded to thank the ELC Board of Education for its efforts. She also thanked the staff that helped prepare the graduates for this final day.

"Finally thanks to the teachers, who went above and beyond the call of duty," Sievert said. "Also I'd like to thank the parents, who supported us in our adventures."

Following Sievert's welcome, the senior ensemble sang "You Raise Me Up."

Valedictorian Gretchen Probst gave the commencement address.

Her advice to classmates included the following quote from Abraham Lincoln:' Remember the best thing about the future, is that it comes one day at a time."

She also told her classmates, "No matter what or where we are in life, we can make a difference."

Salutatorian Emily Kirchner gave the class farewell.

"It's an honor to speak in front of this class," she said.

She also thanked school staff, teachers, parents and the community for their support over the last few years.

She left her classmates with a quote from the CEO of Dell Computers: "Try never to be the smartest person in the room. And if you are, I suggest you invite smarter people or find a different room. In professional circles it's called networking. In organizations it's called team building. And in life it's called family, friends, and community."
