The Estherville Lincoln Central Softball Team opened the 2013 season with a 9-4 win over Forest City on Thursday.
Liz Brashear earned the victory on the mound as she struck out eight and walked one while giving up eight hits.
"It was a good first outing for Liz with only one walk," said ELC coach Megan Anderson. "She threw strikes when she needed too and left it in the defense's hands."
