BANCROFT - After falling behind 2-0 after an inning and a half, North Union outscored visiting Algona 10-1 over the remaining stretch to cruise to a 10-3 victory.
Colin Runksmeier got the start on the mound, but only lasted an inning and two-thirds as he gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits with one strikeout and two walks. Brandon Kollasch closed out the game and gave up one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
North Union took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the second inning on four hits-one each from Alex Deitering, Kollasch, Jake Adams, Colin Runksmeier and Sawyer Doocy.
The Warriors added four runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth as they finished with 14 hits on the night.
Kollasch was 3-3 with an RBI while Cody Runksmeier was 2-4 with two RBIs; Adams and Spencer Ricke each went 2-3 with an RBI; Colin Runksmeier was 1-3 with an RBI; Garrett Johnson was 1-4 with two RBI; and Deitering and Jake Govern each were 1-4 with an RBI.
North Union (16-7 overall) was in Mason City on Friday and Saturday. The Warriors travel to Luverne on Monday for a doubleheader with Corwith-Wesley-Luverne.
