65th annual Estherville Flight Breakfast a success

July 8, 2013
By Lexie Hash - Executive Director, Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce , Estherville Daily News

What a wonderful 65th annual Flight Breakfast out at the Estherville Municipal Airport.

The weather was absolutely beautiful this year and we couldn't have asked for a better 4th of July or Flight Breakfast. We had over 1,100 people come out and enjoy pancakes, eggs and sausage. Our new pancake dispensers helped us have the smoothest Flight Breakfast ever. They helped our pancakes get cooked to perfection in a quick and timely manner for all of our guests nearly eliminating lines.

There was plenty to do and see this year at the Flight Breakfast. A total of 39 pilots and copilots flew in for the breakfast and had their planes on display. The RC Planes and Black Knights were both out and put on a good show. The plane and helicopter were busy from the beginning to end giving rides to passengers.

A new addition this year was the kids tent which had free face painting, tattoos, candy and giveaways, and was a huge hit for the youngsters. The Northwest Jazz Band performed for the crowd to the delight of everyone. With so many activities going on this year it was easy to stay awhile.

The Flight Breakfast is not an easy event to put on and we couldn't do it without the help of many volunteers. Estherville is such an amazing town that always comes together to help out the Chamber. Thank you for all your help. Also thank you to everyone who came out for this wonderful and long-lived Estherville event.
