POCAHONTAS - For the second year in a row, North Union entered Class 2A tournament play as the top-ranked team. And for the second year in a row, the Warriors were denied a trip to the state tournament.
On Monday, Ridge View edged the Warriors 2-1 in a pitchers' duel.
North Union's lone run came in the fourth inning.
Sara Rolling led off the fourth inning with a home run over the left-field fence.
That run came after the Warriors had squandered a couple scoring chances in the third inning as two runners were thrown out at home plate.
Ridge View took the early lead with a run in the first inning. Then after North Union had tied the game, Ridge View scored what turned out to be the game-winning run in the fifth inning.
Senior Allie Ingalls threw well enough to win as she struck out nine batters, walked one and hit one batter.
North Union, a team batting .406 this season, managed just five hits. Sara Johnson was 2-3 while Rolling and Peyton Oleson each went 1-3 and Collete Haag was 1-4 a double.
The Warriors end the season with a 32-3 record.
The bid farewell to seniors Collete Haag, Cheyanne Boland, Jasmine Clausen, Allie Ingalls and Sara Johnson.
