There's nothing like a big community celebration to bring people together and Estherville's Sweet Corn Days is an event that does that.
As the town celebrates its 16th Sweet Corn Days this week, take time to get out and visit with friends and neighbors.
The event has become a convenient time for class reunions, family reunions and other large gatherings.
Friday's events include plenty of events for the family including a picnic, car cruise, games and a hula-hoop contest.
For those a little older, there is the Esther's Players Performance, family comedy show and fire works.
Want to stay up a little later? The outdoor movie will begin after the fireworks.
All these events are in Estherville's historic library square.
New this year is a Corny Comedy Club Show at 10:30 a.m. at the MT Vault. This event is for those 18 and over.
Obviously Saturday includes its usual slate of events from the parade at 10:30 with the free sweet corn to follow. Other vendors will help you appease your hunger and there are plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained during the afternoon.
So come to downtown Estherville this week, enjoy the festivities and maybe even run into an old friend or two.
