Three Estherville Lincoln Central baseball players earned all-district honors for their play during the 2013 season.
Seniors Derek Nieland and Matt Burrell earned first team honors while Tyler Swanson earned second team honors.
Nieland, an outfielder who was injured during most of the early half of the season, finished the season with a .318 batting average. In 17 games, he had 14 hits with three doubles, a triple, three home runs and 11 RBIs. He also drew 10 walks and finished with an on-base percentage of .474.
Burrell, the team's shortstop, finished the year with a .352 batting average. He pounded out 25 hits with seven doubles, two triples, three home runs and 18 RBIs. He also drew 17 walks and finished with a .477 on-base percentage.
Swanson completed his season with a 6-4 record. He pitched 71 innings with an ERA of 2.66. He struck out 65 batters while walking 26. Of the 35 runs allowed, 27 were earned.
Other area all-district players
North Union's Sawyer Doocy and Sprit Lake's Brandon Stoll and Nick Amundson both earned first-team all-district honors.
Doocy, a senior pitcher, finished the year with a 5-3 record with a 1.74 ERA. In 52 1/3 innings, he struck out 88 and walked 40.
Stoll finished the regular season with a 5-0 record with an ERA of 0.88. In 32 innings, he struck out 49 batters.
Amundson, a senior catcher, batted .377 with 26 hits including 13 RBIs. He had eight doubles and two triples.
