The annual Run for the Cob continues to attract more and more people every year.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, 251 registered for the event, which is a fundraiser for the Estherville Lincoln Central and Iowa Lakes Community College cross-country programs.
The event features four races with 23 taking part in the half marathon.
Samuel Fransen, age 21, was the first to cross the finish line in that event as he clocked in at 1 hour, 20 minutes, 47 seconds.
Jay Grandprey, age 52, finished second in 1:33:02 while Kyle Kephart, age 19, finished third in 1:35.28.
Jen Muchlinski, age 38, was the first female to finish in 1:35.43 with Andriette Wickstrom, age 58, finishing in 1:36.49 for second among females.
The last half marathon runner to finish came in 2:47.22.
The 10K race featured 37 participants. Erik Shewmaker was the first to finish in 41:42 while Blake Lineweaver, 16, clocked in at 42:27 with Brian Craig, 51, finishing in 42:38.
Connie Houlihan, 55, was the fourth overall runner and first female with a time of 43 minutes flat. Holly Neusch, 43, finished sixth overall and was the second female to cross the line with her time of 45:35.
Brooke Nelson, 29, finished eighth overall and finished third for females in 7:31.
The last 10K participant to finish clocked in at 1:16.36.
The 5K race was by far the most popular with 148 participants.
Vic Morales, 39, finished first in 16:41 with Lee Christensen, 16, second in 17:37 while Collin Daub, 16, finished in 18:40.
Morgan Larson, 15, was the first female to finish as she placed ninth overall and clocked in at 20:46.
Whitney Smith, 14, finishes second for females and 10th overall in 20:51.
The final 5K runner finished in 57:53.
Forty-eight athletes took part in the 1-mile fun run.
Casey Bixby, 13, was the first to finish in 7:08 with Katelyn Myers, 8, finished second in 8:42.
