The Emmet County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Jackson County, Watonwan County, and Martin County, Minn. sheriff's offices and the Welcome-Sherburn, Minnesota Police Department completed an investigation into a series of farm machinery thefts in the four-county area. As a result of this investigation 2 arrests (1 adult, 1 juvenile) were made in Martin County and one (adult) in Jackson County.
A John Deere 7220 Front Wheel Assist tractor and Vermeer #605 Round Baler together valued at $90,000 had been reported stolen Aug. 6, 2013, from a farm located northeast of Estherville in Emmet County and was recovered in Watonwan County, Minn. on Aug. 30.
As a result of this investigation the Emmet County Sheriff's Office has obtained arrest warrants charging Dylan Thomas Thompson, 19, of rural Jackson, Minn. and Brian Paul Poppe, 20, of Trimont, Minn., with theft in the first degree in connection with the Emmet County Theft. Bond for both men on the Emmet County charges has been set at $10,000 cash each.
Thompson is currently in custody in Jackson County, Minn., and Poppe is in custody in Martin County Minn., in regard to charges stemming from the theft of the numerous items in Minnesota.
The following list is some of the items that were stolen and recovered: 2012 Polaris Ranger 800XP side by side 4 wheeler; 3520 John Deere Yard Tractor; hydraulic dump trailer; tandem axel tilt bed car trailer; 6115D John Deere yard tractor; hayrack with John Deere running gear; hay rake; Vermeer round bailer PTO shaft, bailing twine and netting; Agway round bail carrier which contained 11 round bails; hayrack with John Deere 953 running gear; fork attachments for a Bobcat; 3 point hitch for John Deere tractor; John Deere 3 point disc mower; Woods cadet 3 point ditch mower; off-road motorcycle; New Holland Square baler; backhoe; Wild Cat ATV; 10-wheel Gehl hay rake.
