With serious winter weather around the corner, the Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday stepped up efforts to fill two expected open positions on the secondary roads crew.
County engineer Roger Patocka presented the board with a list of nine prospective applicants. Noting he had advertised for a position at the Dolliver shop, Patocka said there was also a good chance of another opening mid-December. He said both positions could be chosen from the current applicant pool.
Patocka said he hopes to interview later this week and that the positions have to be opened to in-house employees first.
Supervisor Ron Smith recommended hiring two from the list.
In the road report, Patocka said crews were doing road repairs, burning ditches, tiling, ditch cleaning, fixing signs and doing bridge maintenance.
The board also approved business property tax crfedit applications.
