Lakers defeat another ranked foe

Iowa Lakes defeated its second ranked opponent in as many weekends with a 78-65 victory over 13th ranked Des Moines Area Community College on Saturday.

Deondre Parks led the Lakers with a 38-point performance on 14-of-20 shooting, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range. He also had a team-high eight rebounds and three steals along with four assists.

The Lakers led 41-31 at halftime. Parks scored 21 points in the second half.

Iowa Lakes' defense played the key role, holding DMACC to shooting just 34.6 percent (18-of-42) from the field.

Diamontae McKinley tossed in 11 points while Tate Harmon had eight, Colton Neff had six and Latrell Love had four. Also Brandon Boggs, Justin Sloter and Jake Janssen each had three points and Bill Makris had two.

McKinley had eight assists and Love had seven rebounds.

Jamar Hurdle led DMACC with 16 points.

Iowa Lakes cruises past Dakota Wesleyan JV

Iowa Lakes had little trouble against the Dakota Wesleyan Junior Varsity in a 79-48 victory on Tuesday.

The Lakers led 47-26 at halftime.

Bill Makris led the Lakers with 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field. He also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Colton Neff tossed with 14 points while Brandon Boggs and Deondre Parks each scored 13 points and Justin Sloter had 12. Also Nathan So had four points, Tate Harmon had three and Jake Janssen had two.

The Lakers shot 55.7 percent from the field (34-of-61) including 43. 8 percent (7-of-16) from 3-point range.

Dakota Wesylan shot just 28.6 percent (16-of-56) from the field.
