13th-ranked DMACC?too much for Lakers

Iowa Lakes struggled to score in the first half against Des Moines Area Community College.

The Lakers had just 12 points after the first 20 minutes and trailed 27-12 at the break. Both teams upped the scoring in the second half with the visiting Bears going home with a 66-39 victory.

Natasha Kindred led the Lakers with 11 points while Shabreka Edwards had eight and Aliyah Gipson and Nijala Johnson each had four. Sobrina West and Leah Courtney each had three points while Shaunte Tucker, Carly Gilliland and Alissa Johnson each had two points.

Nijala Johnson also had five assists and five steals.

The Lakers shot 17-of-67 from the field (25.4 percent) while DMACC made 27-of-60 field goals (45 percent).
