MAPLEWOOD, Minn. - Joanne Kristine (Johnson) Booth, 79, a resident of Estherville for over 60 years, passed away peacefully in her residence on Feb. 22, 2014 in Maplewood, Minn.
Joanne was born in Windom, Minn. to Joseph and Anne Johnson on Sept. 8, 1934. She graduated from Estherville High School and Estherville Junior College. She was a nurse at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville for over 30 years. Joanne loved healthcare and often used her experience to provide advice to her caregivers on the best way to care for patients. One of her passions was reading and she passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. Her favorite literature was a toss-up between a romance novel and the Bible. She was a member of the ELCA Lutheran Church and had a deep and abiding faith. Joanne was a grace-filled woman: wise, beautiful, and a sassy Norwegian. Uff da!
Her parents Joseph and Anne Kilen Johnson (birth name Anna Johanna Kilen), her beloved son Bill Watson, former husband Bill Watson, and husband Bryant Booth precede Joanne in death.
Joanne is survived by daughters, Wanda Watson Radford and husband David, Laura Watson Witt and husband Lenny, Mary Watson Creviston and husband Dan, and daughter-in-law Lea Watson; her brother David Johnson and sister Elizabeth (Tippy) Luhman; 10 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Joanne leaves many wonderful friends, including Arlene Nourse, Pastor Susan Stone, Ron and Joyce Anderson, and the Holy Family nurses.
Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or St. Croix Hospice, St. Paul, Minn.
The family of Joanne wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the St. Croix Hospice Team and the staff at Seasons of Maplewood. A memorial service is being planned for June 2014 in Estherville. Arrangements are by Sandberg Funeral Home, North St. Paul, Minn., 651-777-2600.
