Five positions will be open in the ballot for the June 3 Iowa primary.
In addition to two county supervisor seats, the county attorney, county recorder and county treasurer seats will be open in this year's primary.
The open supervisor seats will be those currently held by Jon Martyr and Ron Smith. The other seats are currently held by county attorney Doug Hansen, recorder Diann Quastad Minion (currently filling out the last year and a half of a vacancy) and treasurer Vickie Jurrens.
The filing periods for the June 3 primary are:
n County offices - 5 p.m. March 3-26, to be filed in the Emmet County Auditor's Office.
n State and federal offices - 5 p.m. Feb. 24 through March 14.
For county offices, 2 percent of the 2012 vote for the presidential candidate of the party in the county or 100 signature, whichever is less, is required. For Democratic candidates that totals 42 signatures while for Republican candidates 51 signatures could be needed. It is highly recommended that candidates accumulate at last 10 more signatures than required.
