ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for James Wilson, 82, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Steve Britton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home only on Monday. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Estherville with military rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.

James V. Wilson, the son of Albert E. and Mary (Compston) Wilson, was born April 16, 1931, in Battle Creek, Mich.

As a child Jim moved with his family to the Los Angeles area where he attended school and graduated from Poly Tech High School. Following graduation he also attended some college.

Jim served in the United States Army Reserves for 28 years being honorably discharged with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was united in marriage to Aida Dudnick on March 17, 1957, in Los Angeles. The couple made their home in the Los Angeles area where they began raising their family and Jim was employed as an Escrow Officer at Security Title Insurance Company. Jim loved music and was also a drummer in a traveling band that toured all over the Midwest in the Big Band era. He loved animals, coin collecting and stamp collecting. Aida died Dec. 5, 1992. In 2005, Jim moved to Estherville to be nearer his family.

Left to cherish Jim's memory are his daughter, Vicki Alvarez, and her husband, Connie, of Estherville; son, Albert Wilson, of West Covina, Calif.; his beloved grandchildren, James E. Wilson of Pomona, Calif.; Connie Alvarez and his wife, Tina, of Estherville; Christian Alvarez and his wife, Christi, of Estherville; eight great-grandchildren, Brittany, Anessa, Taylor, Devon, Anthony, Rhiannon, Ember and Selena; a brother, Walter L. Wilson, of Simi Valley, Calif.; several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Shanya Newman, of Fontana, Calif.

Preceding Jim in death were his wife, parents and one brother.
