The Estherville Parks and Recreation Department is officially partnering with the Regional Wellness Center for the spring youth soccer program.
The Parks and Recreation Board moved forward with the program at its regular meeting on Monday.
The past few springs, the length of the youth soccer program has been affected by the weather.
Partnering with the RWC gives participants an alternative venue to both practice and perhaps even play games in inclement weather as youth can work on their skills inside the RWC.
The Parks and Recreation Department will provide $10 per participant to the RWC to help with the costs of the program.
The soccer program begins Tuesday, March 25 for students ages 5 through fourth grade. Practices and games will be held at the RWC from 3:45-4:45 p.m. on March 25, April 1, 8, 15 and 22 with games on Saturday, April 26 and May 3.
Cost is $20 and includes a t-shirt.
In other business Monday, the Parks and Recreation Board learned the Lincoln Shelter is expected to be in place by April 30. The shelter will have bathrooms and provide some shade area.
Estherville City Administrator Penny Clayton said the Estherville Noon Kiwanis plans to help with a planting project around the signs and other areas of the park.
The board also approved the annual request from the Relay for Life Committee to reserve the Library Square, picnic tables and bleachers for its June 7 event.
