ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Bernice Weaver, 99, of Spirit Lake will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Lynn Elrod officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

She died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Rosewood Manor in Estherville.

Bernice Angeline (Howard) Weaver, the daughter of Thomas Fountain and Edna Pearl (Wood) Howard, was born April 26, 1914, in Fort Dodge.

She received her education in the Fort Dodge schools. After completing her education she went to work for Wolkson's Packing Company for close to eight years.

On June 2, 1934, Bernice was united in marriage to Duayne Weaver in Webster City. Along with being a wife, mother and housewife, Bernice was involved in church and was employed by both the United Methodist Church in Estherville and Spirit Lake. In Estherville she belonged to PTA and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts for several years. In her leisure time Bernice enjoyed crocheting mittens and caps for schools, especially Upper Des Moines Opportunity and also baby afghans. Duayne died June 19, 1988.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake.

Left to cherish Bernice's memory are her daughter, Bonnie (Gilbert) Amdahl, of Estherville; six grandsons, Daniel (Joyce) Amdahl of Plainfield, Ill., Michael (Hermelinda) Amdahl of Estherville, Timothy (Rosie) Amdahl of Robinson, Ill., Thomas Amdahl of Montgomery, Ill., Jay and Jeff Weaver; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two step-sisters, Norma (Walt) Summers of Bradgate and Barbara (Lawrence) Swanburg of Fort Dodge and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bernice in death were her husband, Duayne; son Richard who died in 2008; on the Howard side, one sister, six brothers and on the Smith side, three step-brothers and two step-sisters. Online condolences may be sent to www.henryolsonfuneral.com
