The Estherville Lincoln Central board of Education Monday heard there could be a groundbreaking for the new Demoney 3-4 addition next spring, with construction completed in time for the start of the 2016 school year.
Superintendent Tara Paul said four out of five architects contacted had submitted proposals which the district building committee was scheduled to review 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Paul said the committee would select two or three proposals and interview the architects before narrowing down to one proposal to bring to the board.
The addition would be funded by the SILO 1-cent tax.
The addition would complete the district's plans to consolidate all grade levels in one location - a long-term plan the board has had to save money on transportation, utilities and staff.
Third and fourth grades are currently housed in Roosevelt North on North Sixth Street.
