Orville "Bud" Molan

ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Orville "Bud" Molan, 90, of Dakota City and formerly Swea City, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Ed Powers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home only on Wednesday. Interment will be at Harrison Township Cemetery in Swea City with military rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at QHC Humboldt North in Humboldt.

Orville T. "Bud" Molan, the son of Ole T. and Lillie M. (Bishop) Molan, was born July 8, 1923, in Hancock, Minn.

As a child, Bud grew up in the Swea City area. He received his education in the Swea City Schools. Bud served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and received the Purple Heart.

On Jan. 17, 1948 he was united in marriage to DeMaris Reutzel in Blue Earth, Minn. The couple made their home in Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa while Bud worked as a heavy construction operator. The couple retired in Dakota City.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and VFW.

Left to cherish Bud's memory are his wife, DeMaris, of Dakota City; children, Meridee Mahan and her husband, Joseph, of Humboldt; Orvin Molan and his wife, Lori, of Viborg, S.D.; grandchildren, Shelly Mahan and special great-grandson, Joey Mahan; Ryan Knutson; Rochelle Green; Christy Keizer and her husband, Mike; and many great-grandchildren.

He has been preceded in death by his daughter, MarvaLee Ona Molan; parents; and brothers and sisters. Online condolences may be sent to
