Estherville News

To the Community of Estherville:

On behalf of the Estherville Lincoln Central School Foundation, I would like to thank the many businesses and members of our community that made our 20th Annual "Champion in Education" event a great success for us!

This year's honoree, ELC Elementary School Administrative Assistant, Sue Truog, was honored for her 34 years of commitment and dedication to the elementary school children and their families. Thank you to the family, friends and many colleagues who attended the dinner to honor her!

The ELC School Foundation relies on banquet sponsorships to cover our costs and to ensure continued growth to support our grants and scholarships. This year's sponsors are a wonderful display of the support we have in our community for the educational needs of our youth! We thank ALL of our sponsors and urge everyone to return their support by doing business locally. The 2014 "Champion in Education" sponsors are listed here:

Woody's Pizza, Wade Bruggeman (pork), Top Hat BBQ, Brad & Jill White ( beef), John & Jeannene Larson, Shear Attractions Salon, Erin Guge Photography, RWC, King's Pointe Water Park Storm Lake, IA, Andy & Tara Kosky Pizza Ranch, Storm Lake, IA, Riverside Sinclair, Parks Marina, Snap-On Tools - Algona, M.E.'s Body Shop, Shear Shack Salon, Hair Divas Salon, Storm City Auto Parts Storm Lake, IA, Sadie Jo Designs, Tom & Elaine Quastad, Carol Bernholtz, Cutting Edge Salon, Lisa Dreeszen, Kathy & Mike Cornwall, Cory & Michelle Hoyer, Andrea Nelson, and Keith & Bernadette Duitsman.

Our fantastic desserts for the DESSERT AUCTION were created by Doug Wagner, Laurie Olson, Designs by Annie, Lizbeth Ramos, Bernadette Duitsman, Carri Duitsman, Gayle Petersen and Shannon Schiltz.

We also would like to thank Estherville Golf Course for donating the use of the club house, Clarken Auctioneering for helping with our auctions, and KILR & Estherville News for publicity. The auctions were a great success, and we are so very grateful to everyone who bid on and purchased auction items.

The ELC School Foundation provides scholarships to graduating seniors, recognition awards for the valedictorian and salutatorian, swimming lessons for elementary students, and helps fund the Key Grant Program in which every grade PK-12 benefits. This year the Foundation also spearheaded the purchase of the new LED message sign at the High School and are grateful to North Star Bank & Agency, Midget Booster Club, EXCEL! Estherville, Avera Holy Family Health and the Patrons of Fine Arts Club for providing additional funding for the message center. We are able to continue these projects because of our sponsorships, tickets sales, memorials, donations of stock for estate and tax planning, by establishing a scholarship in a loved one's name, and through the payroll deductions made by many of the employees within our school district.

Last, but not least, thank you to the volunteers that make up the ELC School Foundation Board of Directors. They are Andrea Nelson, Michelle Hoyer, Dave Howard, Kevin Sander, Kathy Cornwall, Lisa Dreeszen, Bernadette Duitsman, Carri Duitsman, Jodie Greig (school board liaison), Becki Hall, Annie Kalous, Jen Kreich, Shannon Schiltz, Doug Wagner, Brad White and Betty Ann Rosfjord. These people do a wonderful job of helping to promote and support the work of the School Foundation.

Again, a HUGE thank you to all who have helped our foundation grow, and to the many "Champions in Education" that give their time and support to improve our school system.

Andrea Nelson, President
