Prusts and Carz Central a great choice

January 23, 2015
Estherville News

When it was announced at the annual Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce banquet Thursday, Jan. 15 that Jim and Elaine Prust were selected Citizens of the Year and Carz Central Business of the Year, there was plenty of applause.

And for good reason.

Both the Prusts and Carz Central go above and beyond what is expected. The Prusts go above and beyond what's expected of good citizens, and Carz Central goes above and beyond what one would expect of a progressive, service-oriented business. And Chamber executive director Lexie Ruter did a great job of explaining why.

Elaine has dedicated many years to the Emmet County Extension Board, helped with 4-H and worked to raise money for Relay for Life. The Prusts have also been actively involved with the Boy Scouts and helping put up and take down the flags in Library Square on Memorial Day. They're also active volunteers at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, painting and doing other work.

They're regular volunteers at Chamber events, whether it's picking up after Sweet Corn Days, working on the Chamber building remodeling or volunteering during the Fright Hike.

Carz Central has remodeled not one but two buildings, providing jobs for seven full-time people and bringing business to Estherville from not just other counties but from Minnesota as well. On top of that, they support many community events.

The reason for the Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year recognition is that it holds up individuals and businesses as exemplary examples of what's right in Estherville.

The Prusts and Carz Central are exactly that. And for that, we should all be proud and happy they're in Estherville.
