A Celebration of Life service for Ruth Ann Sloniker, 69, of Graettinger, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. She died on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at her home in Graettinger.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12, at the church in Graettinger. Ruth Ann (Bisgaard) Sloniker the daughter of Arnold and Doris (O'Neill) Bisgaard, was born March 28, 1947, in Emmetsburg.
Ruth was raised on the family farm in rural Graettinger. She received her education and graduated from Graettinger High School. Following graduation, Ruth Ann attended Iowa Central College in Fort Dodge and then the University of South Dakota where she earned her nursing degree.

On June 16, 1968, she was united in marriage to Gerald 'Jerry' Sloniker at First Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Following their marriage the couple began raising their family and made their home in Estherville for a time before returning to Graettinger to make their permanent home. Ruth was employed as a Registered Nurse at Holy Family Hospital for 44 years, until her retirement. For hobbies, she enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger where she was active in Women's Circle, Quilting Group and Youth Ministry.
Left to cherish Ruth's memory are her husband, Jerry of Graettinger; children, Jeff (Sarah) Sloniker; Robyn (Hooman) Hassani; Emily (Matt) Schultz; six grandchildren; siblings, Don Bisgaard; Arleen (Dick) Hoffman; Aileen Schacherer; Bob (Linda) Bisgaard; and several nieces, nephews and family.
She has been preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Amy; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Bisgaard; Eileen (Sloniker) Harris; Darlene (Sloniker) Tielbur; brothers-in-law, Kenny Murray; Arlin Kulow; Harry Sloniker Jr. and her mother and father-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Avera Holy Family Hospital or Prairie Center, Avera Cancer Institute, 1000 E. 23rd St., Suite 100, Sioux Falls, SD 57105.
