Kristie Mae Rauscher, age 62, from Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away on Feb. 10, 2017 at her home.
Kris was born on March 1, 1954, in Yankton, S.D., to Duane and Mildred (Stucky) Koster. She attended school at Yankton High Hchool, receiving her GED in 1984. Kris was married to Vernon Rauscher in Yankton in 1970. By this union she bore two children named Mike Rauscher and Susan (Rauscher) Petik. Throughout most of her life, Kris worked in the food industry. She assisted in opening the Sheraton hotel in Sioux Falls. Kris always enjoyed meeting new people and making friends through the hotels concierge service. In 2013, Kris retired from the work force due to declining health.
Kris was a proud member of weight watchers, meeting her goal in 2006. She deemed her greatest accomplishments to be quitting smoking in 1999 and learning to use a computer at age 50. She is survived by her son, Michael Rauscher, her daughter, Susan (Jason) Petik, and her pride and joy of two grandchildren, Alec and Abbie Johnson, along with their father Shane Johnson. In addition, she is survived by Dale Schmuck, Randy (Patty) Koster, Mary (David) Tenneboe, and many nieces and nephews who she adored. Kris is preceded in death by her ex-husband Vernon Rauscher, mother, father, and grandparents.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, the 16th, at Miller West at 6200 West 41st Street. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at Garden of Memories in Yankton.
