A memorial service for Marlene Duitsman, 78, of Estherville will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at her home in Estherville after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Marlene M. (Huntley) Duitsman, the daughter of Roy and Hazel (Johnson) Huntley, was born June 22, 1938 in Estherville.
She received her education and graduated from Estherville High School.
On June 22, 1956, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Duitsman in Estherville. Following their marriage, the couple made their home and raised their family in Estherville. Marlene was employed with Harold's Red Owl and HyVee for many years.
She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and always had an endless supply of Cheetos for them. She enjoyed reading, golfing, shopping and kept a beautiful backyard flower garden.
Left to cherish Marlene's memory are her husband, Kenneth of Estherville; two sons, Keith (Bernadette) Duitsman of Estherville; Kurt (Kari) Duitsman of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Ted (Lorraine) Duitsman of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Danielle (Adam) Heath of Orange, Calif.; Dan (Carri) Duitsman and Molly (Kyle) Struve all of Estherville; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Lonnie "Bud" (Mary Jo) Huntley and Gary (Karen) Huntley; sister, Donna Roberts; sisters-in-law, Mary Duitsman; Jeanne (Ken) Gettler; Carol (Larry) Janssen; Helen Rose; Delores Anderson; Doreen Duitsman Schriber; brothers-in-law, Richard, Bill and Ray.
She has been preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law Basil "Sonny" Roberts.
