The Iowa Lakes women got back into the win column with an 80-61 victory over Little Priest Tribal College on Monday.
The Lakers jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter, but Little Priest made a small run in the second quarter to cut the deficit to six, 36-30.
However, Iowa Lakes won the final two quarters as they led 55-43 to start the final period.
"So happy for our team tonight," said Iowa Lakes coach Ashley Martin. It was a great team win. The girls have battled hard all season and I'm happy to see them rewarded tonight. I thought we did a great job of sharing the ball tonight. One of our keys to success tonight was how we moved the ball on offense."
The Lakers finished with 15 assists with Alicia Ibarra and Bailey Trickel both coming off the bench to dish out four apiece.
Gabi Garcia came off the bench to lead the Lakers with 16 points as she was 5-of-10 from the field including 3-of-8 from 3-point range.
Marissa Ruiz tossed in 15 points while Lauryn Smith and Ibarra each had 10. Jacki Petrick contributed eight points, including 6-of-of- from the free throw line. Lemia Ntor-Ue had seven points, Shai'anye Wesley had six points and Mia Wassink and Trickel each had four points.
Wassink pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds and Ntor-Ue had four blocks.
Iowa Lakes (11-18 overall, 2-10 in conference play) was home against No. 10 DMACC on Wednesday. The Lakers wrap up the regular season at home against top-ranked Kirkwood on Saturday.
