The Estherville Lincoln Central School Board approved a new policy on lunch accounts that would cap the amount a student may charge to no more than $25.
When the account reaches this limit, a student will not be allowed to charge further meals or a la carte items until the negative account balance is paid. This will not affect students who qualify for free meals.
ELC Superintendent Tara Paul said the district will coordinate communications to resolve the matter of unpaid charges.
Also, school district employees and their families will not be allowed to charge for meals.
In other business, the board approved an agreement with the custodial union for the 2017-18 school year. The custodians will receive a raise of 75 cents per hour and a total package increase of 3.28 percent including insurance.
With one motion, the ELC board approved all the personnel changes listed in Monday's story, which previewed the meeting. Additional hires included Amanda Zylstra, high school math and Trevor Arnold, activities/athletic director and dean of students. There was also one more resignation approved Amy Ring Rose, girls' assistant track and one more retirement, Kenny Munsen, maintenance.
