OKOBOJI - With Jacob Bosch placing third and Trey Jacobson placing fourth, the Estherville Lincoln Central Boys Golf Team battled to a second-place finish at the Brooks Invitational on Saturday.

Spencer won the meet with a 314 as ELC finished with a 321. Okoboji followed with 346, Spirit Lake shot 352, Emmetsburg shot 353, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire shot 364 and Martin County West finished with 385.

"We talk a lot about grinding out golf rounds in this program, and this team is starting to show that they might just grind out a whole season," said ELC coach Dave Van Roekel. "They keep improving their games and their focus, and it's really fun to see their results."

Bosch shot a 75 and Jacobson shot a 79.

"Jacob and Trey were our leaders again today, but all six players went out and battled the entire day, and we need that to be a successful team," said Van Roekel.

Hunter Wheatley finished with an 83 and Collin Wodtke had an 84 to complete the team score. Non-counting scores were an 89 by Blake Miller while Joseph Sexe shot a 90.

"Collin Wodtke washed some dirty laundry today with his 84, and that will be great for his confidence," said Van Roekel. "On Prom day you always are a little concerned where their focus might be, but there is no worries with these kids because they just love to compete. It was a very enjoyable day!"

ELC is at Primghar today to face South O'Brien.
