Susan Elaine (Bergeson) Clifford, the daughter of Herb and Margaret (Misener) Bergeson, was born Dec. 19, 1945.

She attended Estherville schools and graduated from Estherville High School in 1965.

After graduation Susan worked at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. She then moved to Fairmont, Minn., and worked at the Fairmont Hospital and Gene's Cleaners. She later worked at Armour's in Fairmont. During this time she met her soul mate Dennis Clifford from Welcome, Minn. They were married in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa on Aug. 4, 1967. They had two children, Stacey (Clifford) Freeman and Dennis Patrick Clifford II. Dennis and Susan celebrated 27 years together.

She was an active member of Estherville Lutheran Church and RSVP. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, puzzles, solitaire and adult coloring. Her greatest joy was looking after her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Susan's memory are her daughter Stacey and her husband, James of Fairmont; grandchildren, Riley, Ramsey and Reyce Freeman. Also surviving are her brothers, Don of Topeka, Kan., Rob and his wife, Helen of Estherville, Gary and his wife, Lee of Hinkley, Minn., Harland and his wife, LaDonna of Orleans, Iowa, sister, Jan Clymer of Estherville and brother, Larry and his wife, Bertie of Okoboji.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis in 1996; her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; sister-in-law, Karen Bergeson and brothers-in-law, Lee Clymer, Mike Clifford and Joe Clifford.

In lieu of flowers, family prefers donations to Lou Gehrig's Research, Diabetic Association or Estherville Lutheran Church.
