Dean graduated from Ringsted High School. After completing his education, Dean served in the United States Army where he was a mechanic attached to the 899th Tank Battalion stationed out of Frankfurt, Germany. There, he made friends he kept for all his life. Dean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted.

On Sept. 17, 1960, Dean and Dorothy Evelyn Hansgaard were united in marriage in Fairmont, Minn. Dean and Dorothy made their home on the family farm, where Dean lived his entire life and enjoyed farming, tinkering in his shop and "Moore-ifying" things. Dean enjoyed "cutting a rug" with his bride, vacationing with family, attending machinery shows with friends and going to farm auctions. Dean will be missed for his endless teasing - no one was ever left out.

Left to cherish Dean's memory are his wife, Dorothy of Ringsted; son, Dennis (Brenda) Moore of Wallingford; son, Steven (Renata) Moore of Ringsted; daughter, Lisa (Jim) Boyer of Ringsted; daughter, Jodi Moore of New York; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Duane (Sandy) Moore of Armstrong, Charles (Jackie) Moore of Worthington, Minn., and Roy (Sherry) Moore of Bertha, Minn.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie (Vern) Powell and fraternal twin brother "womb-mate", Gene (Ellen) Moore.
