Robert "Hoot" Weis Nov. 4, 1924 - Oct. 18, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial for Robert "Hoot" Weis, 92, of Estherville, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Merlin Schrad, celebrant. Interment will be at a later date at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus, Iowa. Military honors will be conducted by Estherville VFW Postt 88. Robert died on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at his home in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with parish vigil and KC rosary at 6 p.m.

Robert Weis the son of Louis and Nellie (Whitney) Weis was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Cherokee.

Bob served in the United States Army during World War II in Germany from 1944 - 1947 where he was honorably discharged.

In 1950, he was united in marriage to Colleen Campbell. To this marriage two daughters, Maribeth and Marjean were born. Colleen passed away in 1977. In 1978, Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Fenton in Estherville. Throughout the years Bob was employed with Lundell's Manufacturing in Cherokee. He then purchased Hooterville Restaurant and Tavern in Holstein, Iowa. He also worked at Spencer Packing Plant and Arts Way in Armstrong. He retired in 1986. Ruth died in 2007. Bob lived at Homestead and later at Windsor Manor in Estherville.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville, Knights of Columbus, and the VFW Post in Cherokee.

Left to cherish Bob's memory are his children, Maribeth Thomas of Emmetsburg; Marjean Berg of Eugene, Ore.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; step-children, Lynn Ann Eng and her husband, John of Anchorage, Alaska; James Fenton and his wife, Sharon of Peoria, Ariz.; Joseph Fenton and his wife, Judy of Aloha, Ore.; William Fenton of Dallas, Texas; Peggy Koepke and her husband, John of Dunwoody, Ga.; Libby Gradick and her husband, John of Beaufort, S.C.; and nine step-grandchildren.

Preceding Bob in death were his wives, Colleen and Ruth; parents, Louis and Nellie; step children, Janet Karlson, and Emmet Fenton; and 10 sisters and brothers.
