A Celebration of Life service for Joanne E. Manley, 74, of Armstrong, will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Pastor Lauri Boysen officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. Joanne passed away at her home in rural Armstrong on Dec. 8, 2017

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the church in Armstrong.

Joanne E. Manley, daughter of Ed and Matilda (Nemitz) Mitchell, was born on Feb. 26, 1943, in Emmetsburg. She attended and graduated from Sentral High School in 1960.

Joanne was united in marriage to Tom Manley on April 16, 1961, at the Lutheran Church in Fenton. To this marriage, two daughters were born: Lori and Lesli. Joanne was employed as a teller at First Trust and Savings in Armstrong during high school and immediately following it. She later ran a ceramic shop in Estherville and was a housekeeper at Village West Resort in Okoboji until her retirement in 2005.

Joanne was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, where she was involved in the circle. She played the organ at many churches in the area. She enjoyed travelling, especially to the Black Hills and Mazatln Mexico. Fishing and going to casinos were of special interest to her. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and taking care of her flowers.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tom of Armstrong; her daughters, Lori Meyer and her husband, Steven of Fenton, and Lesli Iverson and her husband, Trace of Estherville; grandchildren, Cody Meyer, Megan Josephson and her husband, Brian, Jason Manley and his wife, Kim, Trevor Iverson, Brooklyn Iverson, and Jennifer Meyer; and four great-grandchildren, Oliver, Jocelynn, and Astrid Josephson, and Colton Manley.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert.
