Funeral services for Maureen Rutherford, 75, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2018, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Brian Hughes, Celebrant. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Maureen (House) Rutherford was born on June 24, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Emmanuel and Vlasta (Rohlena) House. She graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids and then attended Paris Academy of Beauty. On Nov. 25, 1963, she was united in marriage to Lanny Rutherford in Fairfax, Iowa.

Throughout the years the couple owned and operated Kandy Kitchen in Manilla, Hotel and Steakhouse in Mapleton, Lanny's Lounge in Danbury, M&R Hardware in Manilla. They then purchased and ran Riverview Golf Course in Estherville. In her later life she enjoyed working at Iowa Lakes Community College. Lanny passed away on April 18, 2013. Maureen continued to make her home in Estherville, until she passed away on Jan. 6, 2018 at the age of 75 years.

Maureen was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville and a member of the Swisher American Legion Auxiliary #676. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her grandkids, great grandchildren, and the kids at ILCC. Her favorite times were spent on long car rides with Lanny.

Maureen is survived by her children: Shari Rutherford, Brad Rutherford, Kellie (Marty) Olson, Dawn (Rodney) Hockett, and; her grandchildren Jeremy (Sasha) Rutherford, Brett (Molly) Rutherford, Aaron (Sarah) Rutherford, Levi Olson, Natalie Olson, Mariah (Ryan) Hockett, Nicole Hockett, and Robert Jon Hockett; and her great-grandchildren Greysen, Bryce, Max, Cambrie, Preston, Izan, Aubree, Liz, Cayden, Caden, Macie, Clayton. She is also survived by her sisters Janette House and Donna (Pat) Bresnahan, and by many nieces and nephews.

Maureen is preceded in death by her husband, her dad, whom passed away during WWII who she never got to meet, her mother, her step-father Robert Smahel, son-in-law Mike Olson, and her parents-in-law Raymond and Rose Rutherford.
