Funeral services for Elizabeth Irene Blinkmann, 85, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Randy James officiating. Interment will be at High Lake Cemetery, rural Wallingford.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville.

Elizabeth Irene Blinkmann the daughter of Harry and Christina (Johannesen) Vahldieck was born Jan. 9, 1932 in Ringsted, Iowa. She died on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S. the age of 85, spending her 86th birthday in heaven.

Irene attended Jack Creek Country school and graduated from Ringsted High School. She then attended Estherville Junior College. On Oct. 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Walter "Wally" Blinkmann in Worthington, Minn. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Phoenix, Ariz. In 1953, they moved near Ringsted, Iowa where they farmed. In 1957, the couple moved to Kensett, Iowa where they operated an excavating business. In 1964, the family moved to Wallingford, Iowa where they made their home for many years. Over the years, Irene sold for Avon and was employed with Wadco Foods, and Berkley's. Irene enjoyed travelling around the world and spending time with family. Wally died in 1993. For hobbies, she enjoyed fishing, quilting, sewing, biking, playing the piano, playing board games and cards with family and grandchildren, attending auctions and flea markets. Irene was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville; past member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide south of Gruver; Good Samaritan Society Auxiliary and the High Lake Birthday Club. She was also a 4-H member in her youth. Irene also volunteered at Good Samaritan Center and her church.

Left to cherish Irene's memory are her children, Steven (Bertie) Blinkmann of Reader, West Virginia; Stephanie Linda (Anthony) Allen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Richard (Melody) Blinkmann of Estherville; Florence (Melvin) Halsrud of Wallingford; Glenn (Patricia) Blinkmann of Mason City, Iowa; Brenda (Gary) Dahl of Estherville; 27 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She has been preceded in death by her parents; husband, son, Raymond Blinkmann; grandson David James Blinkmann.
