County approves funds for Gruver FD

Trustees say theirs is second largest fire district in Iowa

The Gruver Fire Department visited the Emmet County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday to request Local Option Sales & Services Tax (LOSST) funds from the county

The department purchased a new truck in 2017, and requested $10,645 in new equipment for the field truck.

The Gruver Fire District covers Ellsworth, Lincoln and Center township splus most of Swan Lake and part of Jack Creek, and the cities of Gruver and Dolliver.

The supervisors granted the request.

In other business, the supervisors discussed the joint drainage district with the supervisors of Dickinson and Clay counties, and continued the discussion to the March 13 meeting.

The supervisors also approved the reappointment of Larry Kelly to the Emmet County Zoning Board of Adjustment for a five year term ending March 15, 2023, and heard the annual report from John Torbert of the Iowa Drainage District Association.

The next meeting of the Emmet County Board of Supervisors will be Tuesday, March 6 at 9 a.m. in the board room of the Emmet County Courthouse.
