Funeral services for Marilyn Johnson, 85, of Ringsted will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at United Lutheran Church in Ringsted with Pastor Lauri Boysen officiating. Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted. Marilyn passed away on March 20, 2018 at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, Iowa, where they gave her the most amazing care.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday at the church in Ringsted.

Marilyn Marie Ostedgaard Johnson, was born on Sept. 26, 1932, in Ringsted, Iowa, to Victor James and Irene Christine (Nelson) White Jensen Ostedgaard.

She attended school and graduated from Ringsted High School. On March 1, 1952, she was united in marriage to Loren Johnson in Ringsted. The couple made their home in rural Ringsted and were blessed to adopt three children. Loren and Marilyn farmed together. Loren passed away on Aug. 28, 2001. Marilyn continued to live in Ringsted until her health declined and she moved closer to her daughter in Sheldon in 2012. She was such a gracious hostess and loved to serve others.

Marilyn was a member of United Lutheran Church in Ringsted. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary and Danish Fellowship. While her children were in school she was on the Ringsted School Board as well as the AEA Board. Marilyn enjoyed the fellowship in card club and the Red Hat Society. Her greatest joy, was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and attending all of their activities.

Marilyn is survived by her children Gale (Greg) Loveless of Mason City, Jay Johnson of Sioux City, and Toni (Anthony) Bart of Sheldon; her granddaughters Emily Loveless, Alexis (Luke) Snyder, Katryna Bart, and Cassidy Bart. She is also survived by her brothers Robert (Donna) Ostedgaard and David (Lynda) Ostedgaard both of Iowa City and her sister-in-law, Irma Ostedgaard of Ringsted. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters, husband Loren, sister Rita (Bill) Hamilton, and brother Gene Ostedgaard.
