County OKs $4k for bike route project

March 30, 2018
Amy H. Peterson - Staff Writer (apeterson@esthervillenews.net) , Estherville News

Lexie Ruter and Penny Clayton represented the Bike Committee for the third meeting in a row at Tuesday's Emmet County Board of Supervisors Meeting. The supervisors approved up to $4,000 in Local Option Sales & Service Tax funding for signage and labor from the county's secondary roads crew for a bike route in Emmet and through Dickinson counties. The routes would meet up with the ones in Dickinson and in Jackson County, Minn., and would be added to a map published in Dickinson County.

"We're certainly happy to work with you," Ruter said. Ruter said the cost may not reach $4,000, but that was the worst-case scenario if savings could not be enjoyed in any area.

In other business, the supervisors extended the no-spray permit deadline to May 1 due to cold, wet weather.
