Supervisors OK quotes for courthouse irrigation

April 6, 2018

The Emmet County Board of Supervisors reviewed two quotes for an irrigation system for the courthouse grounds. Roger Hash, who also serves as parks maintenance supervisor for the city of Estherville, said the bids came from northwest Iowa Sprinkler for $20,991 and from Ferguson's Lawn & Garden Center for $16,083. The supervisors approved spending Local Option Sales & Service Tax funds in the amount of $16,083.00 for the sprinklers.

The supervisors also heard from county engineer Walter Davis-Oeth by telephone about the purchases of a dump truck, fabrications and pup trailer. Harrison Truck Centers of Fairmont, Minn., had the low bid for a 2019 Freightliner for $119,394.00; J-Craft of Lake Crystal, Minn., submitted the low bid for a fabricator for $100,207.44 and the 2019 pup gravel trailer for $49,255.00.

Davis-Oeth said the budget allows for these purchases and he hopes secondary roads will have the new trucks with the added fabrications later this year.

Davis-Oeth reported secondary roads trucks were clearing snow in the low visibility Tuesday morning.

The supervisors also set a public hearing on a new construction permit application for the existing confinement in Jack Creek Township owned by Christensen Farms & Feedlots, Inc. for its next meeting, April 10, 2018 in the board room of the Emmet County Courthouse.
