2018 Lakes All-Conference Baseball Top Ten for ELC

Five named to first team

As the 2018 Lakes Conference champions in baseball, Estherville Lincoln Central is well represented on the all-conference teams this year with 10 players earning first team, second team or honorable mention.

Five ELC players earned first team honors with two more players receiving second team recognition along with three earning honorable mention.

ELC finished with a 10-2 record in league play with Spencer wrapping up a 9-3 season while Storm Lake was 8-3. The Tornadoes did not play their final league game against Western Christian.

Evan Oleson

ELC's first-team selections are seniors Evan Olesen, Jacob Bosch and Trey Jacobson along with juniors Briar Rowley and Blake Miller.

Olesen earned league honors as a pitcher. He finished with a 4-0 record in league play. In 20 1/3 innings, he struck out 24 batters, walked three and gave up just 13 hits. His earned run average was 0.34.

Bosch earned honors as a catcher. He batted .442 in league play. He finished the year with 19 hits including four doubles along with 13 RBIs.

Jacobson was selected to the first team infield. He finished with a .462 batting average. He had 18 hits including one double. He scored 18 runs, had eight RBIs, stole eight bases and drew six walks.

Rowley was selected as a first-team outfielder. He batted. 526 in conference play. He had 20 hits including two home runs, two triples and one double. He scored 19 runs, had 18 RBIs and stole 11 bases.

Miller was selected named a first-team utility player. He went 2-0 in the league as a pitcher. In nine innings, he struck out 14 batters, walked five and gave up eight hits to finish with a 1.56 ERA. Offensively, he batted .273 with nine RBIs.

Earning second team honors are junior Bennett Loock and senior Lucas Gardner.

Loock was selected to the second team as an infielder. He batted .357 with 10 hits including one double, one triple five RBIs and scored eight runs. Gardner batted .243 with nine hits including one double, one triple 11 RBIs and seven runs. Loock and Gardner each stole four bases in league play.

Earning honorable mention all-conference for ELC were senior first baseman Trevor Friesner, senior outfielder Seth Loock and utility player Alec Heifner.

Friesner did not commit an error in conference play with 46 putouts and one assist. Heifner had just two errors on the season with a fielding percentage of .900.

Seth Loock batted .222 in league play and also was perfect in the outfield with no errors in conference play.
