Reporter's note: The Estherville News has been following up with the communications department at Farmers Union Industries, the parent company of Central Bi-Products in Estherville. We received this statement over the weekend and share it with you now.

Dan Hildebrandt, President/CEO of Farmers Union Industries, LLC, issued the following statement about his meeting with the Emmet County Supervisors July 19:

I would like to thank the people form Estherville for sharing their concerns at the Emmet County Supervisors meeting July 19. Being a good citizen in the communities we operate in is extremely important to us. We've taken your concerns seriously and have put a strong corrective action in place to reduce odors immediately as well as for the long term.

We have a new complex manager, Toby Polkinghorne, along with former manager Sheldon Andrews to implement this plan for a smooth transition.

As I stated at the meeting, we care greatly about the community of Estherville and will work diligently to gain your trust.

Thank you.
