Algona's Trey Engen won the race in 16:45.33 with Le Mars' Landen Parmelee placing second in 16:54.72.

ELC had three more boys running varsity with Jacob Jensen placing 67th in 21:04.67.

Izaak Sander and Marcus Dykstra both ran their first varsity race and Sander placed 77th in 22:31.96 while Dykstra finished 83rd in 23:58.97.

In the girls' race, Spencer dominated the team standings with five runners in the top 15 to finish with 31 points while Spirit Lake's Kourtney Delperdang won the individual title with easy in 19:39.

ELC finished ninth with 218 points. Adrienne Rosfjord led the Midgets=, placing 28th in 23:28.28 in the 5K race. Laura Humble placed 39th in 24:24.61, Amara Heinrichs placed 43rd in 24:36.38, Allison Young placed 53rd in 25.32.19 and Kory Rezac placed 55th in 25:37.60. Also running, Hannah Olson placed 58th in 26:00.81 and Maggie Domek placed 68th in 28.09.86.

"The girls need to go out a little faster and the boys went out a little too fast," said ELC coach Connie Humble. "We were not able to run this meet last year in 2017 due to rain, but did run the conference meet there at the end of the season. Most our times were about 30 seconds slower, but that is good since we are comparing meets at the beginning of 2018 and end of a season 2017 when we were in better shape. Kory Rezac and Adrienne Rosjford ran faster than their end of the season times from 2017 so that was great."

ELC teams travel to the Spirit Lake Meet on Tuesday at Brooks Golf Course in Okoboji.

ELC had one runner each in the junior varsity races. Cheyenne Reiter placed 28th in the girls' race in 28.03.15 while James Williams placed 66th in 25:31.54.
