Cora Elaine Fagre

Cora Elaine Sorensen, daughter of August and Thyra (Strandskov) Sorensen, was born March 21, 1923 at their farm home in Ringsted, Iowa. She passed away in Loveland, CO, on September 5, 2018.

Cora attended the rural schools in Kossuth, Palo Alto and Emmet counties in Northwest Iowa, and high school at the Ringsted High School. After graduating from high school, Cora attended Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa for two years and Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa for two years, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree, in Home Economics and Related Sciences. Cora taught Home Economics, Biology, Earth Science, and General Science at the Blairburg and Spencer, Iowa High Schools for four years.

In January of 1949, Cora met Roland Fagre of Estherville, Iowa and they were married on February 28, 1950; Cora's parent's Wedding Anniversary, at St. John Lutheran Church, Ringsted, Iowa.

The Fagres lived in Estherville, Iowa, for thirteen years where their four children- Kristen, Richard, David, and Karlen were born. Roland worked with his father and brothers at the Fagre Construction Company and Cora served on the local Library Board, the Lutheran Church Women Auxillary and both Girl and Boy Scout programs. The Fagres were charter members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

In September 1963 the Fagres moved to Boulder, Colorado. Cora taught school in the high schools of Nederland, Lafayette, and Centarus of the Boulder Valley School District. Cora received a Master's Degree in Vocational Education from Colorado State University in 1968. The Fagres were members of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church , Boulder, CO. Cora was an Honorary Life Member of Luther Church Women, and she taught both children and adult Sunday School and Confirmation Class.

Cora enjoyed several Professional and Vocational Memberships including ADK- Alpha Delta Kappa and Embroiders Guild of America. She also served as a Board Member of the Danish Immigrant Museum at Elk Horn, Iowa.

Upon retirement the Fagres moved to Loveland, CO in 2000. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church until moving to the Good Samaratian Society of Loveland, CO.

Preceding Cora in death were her husband, Roland, her parents, two brothers, Leo and his wife Alice Marie and her brother Arne, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Cora is survived by her daughter Kristen and her husband Larry Healy of Loveland, son Richard and his wife Paula of Alcester, S.D., son David and his wife Kathleen of Fairbanks, Alaska, daughter Karlen and her husband Clayton Krall of Parker, CO, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at the Spiritual Life Center of the Good Samaratian Society of Loveland, on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Good Samaratian Society - Loveland Village or to a charity of your choice.
